TRISTAN NUNEZ

From the age of 17, Tristan Nunez has had his sights set on making his mark in the racing world and stopping at nothing to get there. With a passion that burns just as bright now as it did the day he decided to chase his dreams, Tristan remains with his sights set on becoming a champion. Many say Tristan's talent speaks for itself but today we have the privilege and honor to have Tristan speak about what his journey towards the top and FINDING HIS GLAMOUR WITHIN was all about.

What is and how did you decide on your profession?

Professional RaceCar driver, it has always been a passion of mine and I’m very lucky I’ve been able to make a career out of it.

What is the ultimate goal you seek in your profession?

My goals are to win the IMSA weather tech championship as well as to win the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Has there ever been a time where you felt you didn’t belong in your profession?

Yes, 2020 was a tough year. The company I was driving for informed me at the beginning of the 2020 season that i wouldn’t have a seat for the 2021 season due to budget cuts. Thus making the 2020 season an emotional roller coaster.

Have you ever felt like giving up or starting a different career?

Racing is a very cut throat industry with lots of drivers and very few jobs. So after reviving that news it was hard for me not to feel a sense of panic for what would be next for me. I was able to use those difficult times to find myself and actually turned the 2020 season into the best season of my career.

What do you do to prepare for a race?

Staying physically fit is an important part of preparation. The cars are very physical to drive so being prepared physically makes the difference in staying competitive on race day.

What are some ways you have overcome adversity?

It’s all about mindset to be. When things go wrong if it’s a failure in the RaceCar or if things go wrong in life, i feel it helps to see the problem as a Physical thing or a puzzle. Emotions can’t put the fire out.

Who or what do you turn to in moments of self doubt to give you positive reinforcements?

Music has always been a way for me to help me through tough times.

When did you learn the importance of self love?

I leaded that in 2020. During those hardships and constantly feeling like i wasn’t good enough, i had to take a step back and look at everything i had done to get me to the point i was at. It allowed me to reflect on everything and shower me what my self worth was.

How do you promote self love in others?

Someone told me a long time ago that always helps get through the feelings of doubt. It was to think about a time that you though it was the worst day of your life and you didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. And to take the time and appreciate that you got through that and it’s a burden that doesn’t weight you down today.

What does the Glam By Sam motto

(“Find your glamour within”) mean to you?

To me it means that “ you” are the only one who can know what your worth is. Whether that’s feeling beautiful or doing anything your put your mind to.

What would you tell a younger female or male who has dreams of racing?

Simple. Don’t give up even when things get hard. I remember being so scared to get into a RaceCar to the point that I’d actually be sick before races. But my parents didn’t let me give up as hard as it may have been for parents to see their child in that state.

Lastly, leave us with some words that you want the audience and anyone who is watching to think about throughout the next week.

A quote that always stuck with me is John 19:28-30. It just let me realize there are things in this world that are bigger than us.

"Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."- John 19:28-30

These are amazing words to live by, Thank you Tristan for sharing your message of Finding your GLAMOUR within and overcoming adversity.

XOXO,

Sam💋
