Shelby Fetterman

FashionNovaCURVE and #GOODSQUAD Ambassador/Model, Shelby Fetterman has taken the model industry by storm while promoting body positivity and the #ROCKWHATYOUGOT campaign. Shelby is not afraid to be who she is and encourages everyone to do the same. Being a huge role model to not only younger females but also to myself, I had the pleasure of meeting Shelby while she sat on the panel I was interviewing with to represent GOOD AMERICAN. Shelby stands for inclusivity as well as being diverse and being proud, which are some of the things Glam By Sam represents. Because of this, I knew she would be the perfect person to kick off Feature Friday.

As a female, what is one thing you wish other females would improve on?

I wish females would improve on loving themselves more/earlier in life. I also would love to see more women come together and help uplift each other no matter the size, shape, color, religion etc. With society/media being such a strong influence and typically a negative one on young females

I think the combination of uplifting each other and loving ourselves is a great way to be a positive influence to those young girls!

With so many different brands to choose from, why did you choose to be a GOOD AMERICAN ambassador?

I chose to be a model and ambassador for Good American because they are an amazing brand that is breaking barriers in the fashion industry! Their size inclusivity immediately reeled me in and the body positivity that the company exudes is so enamoring. Good American is the first brand to make jeans that fit my body type exactly with no alterations needed. I shied away from wearing jeans for years because I never felt represented and could never find jeans that fit me properly.

Good American continuously embodies and promotes women empowerment of all body types and sizing, which is one of the many reasons why I love them and am so honored to be a model for them!

When did you learn the importance of self love?

I learned the importance of self love when I finally found out how to love myself, when I finally stopped listening to those that would bully me,

when I finally realized that I am worthy and I am important and I am beautiful just the way I am.

It wasn’t an easy journey in figuring out how to love myself in a world that tells me I shouldn’t, let alone the importance of it. But I’m so glad I found my voice and continue to love who I am everyday, despite how I look physically.

What do you continue to do to promote and encourage self love to others?

I continue to promote self love because I know all too well how it feels to hate yourself. To me, self love is the best kind of love there is...it contributes to your self confidence, a positive attitude, positive thinking and an unstoppable mindset!

I never had someone I could relate to physically to look up to, to tell me it’s okay to look the way you do, it’s okay to love yourself the way you look/are. So, I’m just trying to be who I needed when I was younger.

I strive to be a role model to young girls and give them the confidence, strength and encouragement to be their true authentic selves and love themselves for it. ♥️

What does the Glam By Sam motto ( “Find your glamour within”) mean to you?

“Find your glamour within” to me, means find what makes you shine and own it!

Some phrases I live by, promote and use regularly on my social media platforms are :

“rock what you got” and “don’t like it? Don’t look!”

...these phrases help me promote body positivity and helps others find the confidence to love themselves just the way that they are!

These are amazing words to live by, thank you Shelby for sharing your message of finding your glamour within and being true to who you are.

XOXO,

Sam💋
